I don’t know anything about carving or printing. Is this workshop for me?
I plan my workshops with the intention of walking participants through the niche little choices and practical skills that block printers partake in, regardless of their experience level. Upon registering, you will receive a supply list. If you are starting completely from scratch you will likely spend at least $30 on supplies. This varies on the workshop, what materials you have, what quantity, quality, and where you buy them.
What is the difference between intensives and explorations?
Intensives are 3 hours intended to build your carving and printing confidence up, no matter where you are starting! A supply list of roughly $35 is included in each intensive.
Explorations are 2 hours intended to foster a communal creative space to play with printmaking. intended to have limited or no required materials.
What do I need?
Upon registration you will receive a supplies list. Those with no supplies should expect to spend at least $30 (based on Art Supplies Wholesale in Beverly, Massachusetts) on the basic supplies for an intensive workshop. I aim for my explorations to be minimal to no supplies required.
Where do I fall on the sliding scale?
Because I cannot provide the necessary supplies for a virtual workshop this sliding scale is meant to make these workshops accessible for those who may need to spend more on supplies or have financial pressure that could make it hard for them to join us. I trust you to decide where you fall and encourage those who have supplies and can afford to pay mid to high on the scale to do so.
I want to buy this as a gift
Feel free to print out this hand-carved gift card to present a workshop to a loved one. Just write the details of the workshop you’ve purchased on the back, share the supplies list or a gift card to your favorite local art supplies store, and the zoom link!
Who are you??
I’m E Margo Brown! A self taught block print artist who was raised in the north eastern United States. I have been exploring this medium for seven years and believe deeply in the accessibility of printing and self publication as an expression of politics, self, and community. I now live in Spain with my partner.
